cancer experience

I remember the day I was told I had cancer like it was yesterday. No signs no symptoms at all. Rectal cancer was my diagnosis at 52 my life was changed forever. I had MRIs CT scans blood test and all came back that my cancer hadn’t spread. I then met my Dr who I call my lifesaver as well as my friend. He was so honest and upfront with me and my family. Today I wear a colostomy bag for the rest of my life but I have the rest of my life. I haven’t let it slow me down one bit. See I made a promise to myself the day I got my news. If Dr. Ivatory told me I was going to live then I was going to live life to its fullest every day and that I do. I swim ride a motorcycle hang out with my 3 kids and 4 beautiful grandchildren. Don’t let colon-rectal cancer own you or define who you are. Life is way too short. Get up every morning and live your life to the fullest. Learn that it ok to let others help you and know that you are never in this alone. There’s a lot of us out there just waiting to help you. I’m almost 3 years cancer free today and I owe that to the wonderful staff of Drs. I had from start to finish. Remember every day is a great day to be alive.
